Alumni Schools Committee

Members of the Princeton Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) of Northwestern New Jersey serve an important function as volunteer ambassadors on Princeton's behalf by interviewing candidates to Princeton, donating Princeton Book Awards to honor high school juniors, attending college nights and fairs and keeping secondary schools apprised of what Princeton has to offer.

Our ASC consists of 80 active participants who ensure that every candidate to Princeton from the 60 public and private schools in our region is contacted for an interview. This year the committee interviewed a record 300 candidates. Admitted students and their parents were honored at a Princeton Club of Northwestern New Jersey reception in April.

Many ASC members "adopt" a local high school, becoming the school's Princeton ASC contact. Their role is essential for attracting outstanding applicants to Princeton. Contacts keep in touch with the high schools' college guidance counselors to make prominent students aware of Princeton and to offer to meet with interested students. In addition to attending college nights and fairs, many alumni offer to speak with prospective candidates during lunchtime visits to their schools.

In addition, our Princeton Book Awards program is ever expanding. Generous ASC members donate a hardcover book written by a Princeton alumnus/alumna or faculty member to honor a member of a high school's junior class who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in academics and community service. Two dozen secondary schools currently participate in this program, and Book Awards donors present the prize at the school's awards ceremony.

New ASC members are always welcome. If you would like to join our ASC, please click here!
