Our 63rd reunion May 28-31 was great (though small). We joined ’44, ’45, and ’49 at Forbes, and held our classy class dinner in the J. Henry Room. Although president REEVES HICKS had to be away, AL LUKENS, there with Susie, gave leading remarks. Also attending were BILL STOLTZFUS, GENE CHURCH and son DAVID, PAUL SPAGNOLI, HAL ERDMAN and Judy, BURR FISHER, PERRY MORGAN and Liz, and DICK NEILL and Pat. At the Saturday dinner, DIK DONCHIAN’s widow, Karen, and several relatives joined us, as did P.D. Spagnoli and his young daughter, Jin Mi, who enjoyed playing with Dave Church’s three small sons.
The Saturday forums and displays, followed by the great P-rade, were graced by gorgeous weather and ever-enthusiastic crowds of ever-younger Tigers. Onward to our 65th in 2011! Make plans now!
We hear from ART WHINSTON in Oregon that he and Melicent moved in October to a care facility. Meli set yet another world-record bench-press for seniors in Las Vegas in November. They often see grandchildren Whitney and Ella, daughters of Melet ’77, and Willem and Sonya, progeny of Patricia ’82.
Ever-faithful BILL MCCARTY sends his contribution from Virginia and news that his grandson, Matthew, graduated summa cum laude from (oops!) Yale, got a master’s from Oxford, and now is going for a PhD.
BILL TILY in Michigan sings with the Treasure Coast Community chorus, which did six programs and two club acts over the year end, and also with his barbershop group The Mariners. Also singing is DICK ARMSTRONG, who directs the 26-member Windrows Warblers at Princeton Windrows Retirement Community.
Our condolences go to the families and friends of MARSOM PRATT, who died March 17, 2009, and TOM PLUNKETT JR., who died April 6, 2009.
The class has memorials in this issue.

Our scholarship recipient, Ted Becker ’11, wrote to express his deep gratitude for the BILL FURNIVALL and Class of 1946 scholarship. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my Japanese and math courses. . . . I have taken more economics and philosophy . . . and have decided to become a philosophy major. . . . Other activities are theater and music and my WPBR show.” Good luck, Ted!
Here’s a shady photo of AL LUKENS and Susan last February in Anghor Wat, Cambodia. They get around!
JIM BUCK writes that granddaughter Anne (Bonnie) Garrett Rogers, daughter of Joe and Caroline ’77, has been admitted to Princeton’s Class of 2013. She’s the niece of Jim Buck III ’81. Great news! Are there others?
