Ken Scasserra and Joe McGinity hosted a Miami Beach class gathering on April 28, 2003.  Joe reports that it was an enjoyable evening:  "Ken, Maureen and I greeted Dick Williams, Peter Boer, Skip and Susan Bryan, Vince and Carol Damian '60 for drinks at 6:30 followed by dinner at the Abbey Hotel.  Ken's son Marty [a hotel co-owner] and his wife Melissa were also there.  The Abbey dining room and bar were perfect - street level, very bright and art deco.  Excellent food and service - Ken and I closed the place at 1 a.m.  A good warm-up for our class dinner May 30 at the Pickens!"  Joe sent the below pictures, and Ken hopes to plan another FL gathering next year.  On Joe and Maureen's drive home, they had the pleasure of great visits with Nancy and Jim Wood in Jacksonville, and with Linda and Wilson Morris in Savannah.  As is evident in the photos below, both Jim and Wilson are doing fine.

Mezze Platters, hummus, bruschetta, and an ever-changing selection of tasty salads

SALAD

Mixed Field Greens, tossed with basil oil, balsamic vinegar and vine ripe cherry tomatoes

ENTREES

Butternut Squash Ravioli (VEGETARIAN), with brown sage butter, arugula, goat cheese and toasted pinenuts
Grilled Bavette Skirt Steak, with fennel, arugula, red onions and grilled roasted potatoes tossed in a fig vinaigrette
Penne Pasta Bolognese, rich meat simmered in a sauce of ripe plum tomatoes, fresh herbs and garlic served over firm penne noodles
Herb Crusted Tuna, grilled and served over a roasted potato, and frisee salad with preserved lemon vinaigrette

DESSERT

Tiramisu, classic espresso soaked Italian lady fingers layered with creamy mascarpone and shaved semi-sweet chocolate
