Dear 1961 Classmate:
I'd like to share some good news.
I've mentioned before that life-income gifts such as trusts, annuities
and pooled funds
offer a special blend of benefits. In return for removing some of your
assets from your
estate now, there are tax breaks and you even get a regular check from
Princeton.
Financial writers highlight these benefits from time to time: You may,
for example, have
read the words of Peter Keating in Smart Money (Dec. 2007):
'When you're ready to distribute your wealth both now and after death,
charitable trusts
are hard to beat."
So, what's the news? As Princeton alumni, this special blend of
benefits can count in
so many ways for us.
First, planned gifts count in the Aspire Campaign. That means
that charitable trusts
provide an opportunity to help in a propitious and timely way right now.
And they
can also count again for ourselves and our families. Depending on the type
of trust
you create, these gifts can provide payments to loved ones now or a
tax-efficient
distribution later.
Please take a few moments to read
about gift planning for Princeton,
your family,
and you. If you have any questions, I invite you to call the Gift Planning Office
directly at (609) 258-6318.
Sincerely,
Ted Athanassiades
P.S. If you have already included Princeton in your estate plans but
are not on the
[below] list of classmates, please get in touch with me or the Office of
Gift Planning so
that we can add you to our honor roll for the 1746 Society.
