Dear Classmates,

It is hard to believe that summer is nearly over. You could never tell it by the weather here in South Louisiana --- 95 degree temperature and matching humidity; but the end of summer must be near because the 8 a.m. traffic jams for the first day of school started today.

Hope you had a grand summer with friends and family and thoroughly enjoyed both. Suzy and I spent a good deal of time in the western Carolina mountains (15 degrees cooler than home) finishing a summer retreat for us and our family. The children and grandchildren (18 in all) joined us for a week of fun in early August.

Class Dues Support Our Class & Provide PAW

Now that footballs are almost in the air it is time to focus on the Class calendar. Fall is dues paying time and I encourage each of you to make your dues contribution to support the class (still only $50), which entitles you to receive PAW as well as be part of the life of your class.

Class of 1961 Scholarship Supports Seven Students

While you are at it, don’t forget the class scholarship fund. This year, seven young men and women are attending Princeton because of your generosity. Asheesh Siddique, Chevy Chase MD; Daniel Potter, Chapel Hill NC; Irene Hu, Irvine CA; Alina Ene, Romania; Kivan Polimis, Baytown TX; Daria Koroleva, Princeton NJ; and Brenda Chan, Winchester MA are Tigers because you cared enough about the future of Princeton to provide them with financial support.

So please fill out the enclosed response card to your Treasurer, Mike Burton, designating which donation is for dues and which is for the scholarship fund. Don’t forget to include information on you, your family or classmates for Scribe George Brakeley to share in his PAW epistles. If you prefer, click here to contribute securely on-line.

Harvard Football Game Tailgate & Class Reception (Oct 21)

Now that our great 45th Reunion celebration is just behind us and we have had the summer to catch our breath and revive, it is time to begin to focus on fall activities for the class. October 21 the Tigers will be hosting Harvard and we will have a class tailgating event in Jadwin Gym before the game with dinner that evening at Quadrangle Club. The Quad arrangements are courtesy of former Prez Joe McGinity. Thanks Joe. It is a great day to spend with friends, so plan to come and wear your ’61 gear. Let me know if you plan to come so we can get a good head count. More on that weekend later on the website.

Speaking of which, if you have not gone to www.princeton61.org lately, webmaster Len Berton continues to provide us with a wealth of information and stories on classmates as well as class and University functions. We are blessed to have so dedicated and talented a guy providing for our electronic connections.

Yale Bowl Tailgate With Princeton Club of New England (Nov 11)

Patrick Davidson, Sam Leisring, Hank Sykes and spouses invite you to join them at the Princeton Club of New England’s pre-game tailgate picnic prior to the Yale football game on November 11.

Hope this letter finds you well and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Best Regards,

John
