And now for something altogether different!

Join us for a special reception at the International Museum of GLBT History and the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco. The organization's new historical gallery will be open for a special evening viewing, plus we'll be given a guided tour of archival and museum collections that are normally closed to the public. Wine, nonalcoholic beverages and light snacks will be served.

Come see the inaugural exhibit of the museum: "Saint Harvey, The Life and Afterlife of a Modern Gay Martyr." The exhibit documents the life of Harvey Milk, California's first openly gay elected official, as well as his afterlife in our cultural consciousness. It examines the social forces that propelled Milk into the history books, and explores the process through which a community hungry for heroes invested a fallen leader with mythic status. The exhibit includes photographs, works of art, historical documents and never-before-shown artifacts from the estate of Harvey Milk.

For over 15 years, the GLBT Historical Society has maintained one of the world's largest collections of primary source material about gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender history. In June, the Historical Society opened the International Museum of GLBT History -- a dedicated historical gallery conceived as a first step in the process of building the world's first full-scale, professional-quality museum dedicated to GLBT history, art and culture.

The museum and archives are located in San Francisco at 657 Mission St., Suite 300 (between 3rd and New Montgomery streets in The City's Yerba Buena cultural district).
Public Parking: 5th and Mission garage.
Muni/BART: Montgomery Street Station.
Muni Bus Service: Mission or Market street lines to 3rd Street or New Montgomery Street.

Special thanks to our hosts Stanford Pride's Charlie Rose and Jen Brinsky, and FFR/Princeton BTGALA's Greg Morris and Abe Brown, Cornell GALA's Fran Simon and Nick Daniels and to Stanford alum Gerard Koskovich from the museum's board of directors. They look forward to seeing you there!
