Join us for a special seminar on financial planning for lesbian and gay
couples. Speaking on insurance and saving will be FFR/Princeton
BTGALA's Shawn Cowls, on financial planning will be Penn GALA's Cindy
Sterling, and on legal issues will be Anthony M. Brown. There will be
ample time for questions and answers and drinks following the
presentations.
Bio for Anthony M. Brown
Anthony M. Brown, Esq. - Anthony has been a member of the Board of
Directors of The Wedding Party since its inception in 1999. The Wedding
Party is a non-profit educational organization that educates the public
about marriage and its importance to all citizens through outreach
programs and strategic media placement. Anthony has worked as a law
guardian at The Childrens Law Center, representing the legal needs of
children in Brooklyn Family Court. Anthony also worked as a legal intern
for Lambda Legal in the summer of 2002. While there he helped to prepare
briefing for the landmark case of Lawrence v. Texas and his research was
quoted specifically in Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's concurring opinion.
Anthony graduated from Brooklyn Law School, where he served as research
assistant to Nan Hunter, the founder of The Gay and Lesbian Project at
the ACLU. Anthony currently works for the law firm of McKenna,
Siracusano and Chianese heading their nontraditional family and estates
law division.
Bio for Shawn Cowls
In addition to his many years heading FFR/Princeton BTGALA, Shawn Cowls
has spent the past 16 years in the insurance and financial services
industry. He has worked for a number of insurance companies as an
actuary and a consultant and currently is in his own practice helping
individuals and small business implement financial solutions to
insurance and investing needs. He is licensed with Penn Mutual Life
Insurance Company, is a member of the Planning Center for
Professionals, and is a registered representative of the brokerage
firm Hornor, Townsend, and Kent (Member NASD/SIPC).
Bio for Cindy Sterling
Cindy Sterling is a fee only financial planner with her own firm. A
member of the Garrett Planning Network and National Association of
Personal Financial Advisors, Cindy helps clients define and achieve
their financial and personal goals. Before financial planning, Sterling
served as the director of gift planning at Vassar College. She still
consults on charitable gift planning with Washburn & McGoldrick, Inc. A
graduate of the University of Pennsylvania in economics (B.A.) and
psychological services (M.S.Ed.), she also has her Chartered Financial
Consultant (ChFC) certification. Cindy is a frequent speaker at
financial, educational and gift planning conferences.She recently
received the Steuben Apple Award for teaching excellence from the
Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Directions
It's easy to get to People! It's just a block and a half below the
intersection of First Avenue and Houston.
Subway From uptown or midtown, take the F or V train to the 2nd Avenue
stop. Exit out the right hand stairs on the first Avenue end of the station.
South of Houston, First Avenue becomes Allen Street. People is just a short
block and a half south of Houston on the west side of Allen, between Stanton
and Rivington.
From down town, take the J/M/Z up town. Get off at Essex. Walk west three
short blocks to Allen, then north a block and a half.
Bus From uptown or midtown, take the M15 bus south on 2nd Avenue. The bus
will turn on Houston and continue south on Allen Street. Get off at Houston
and Allen and walk south a short block and a half. From subway stations on
the west side, take the M21 bus east on Houston. Get off at 1st Avenue/Allen
Street and walk south a short block and a half.
