FFR/Princeton BTGALA Presents... A Seminar on Financial Planning for Lesbian and Gay Couples New York, NY

Join us for another seminar on financial planning for lesbian and gay couples. Speaking on insurance and saving will be FFR/Princeton BTGALA's Shawn Cowls, and on legal issues will be Anthony M. Brown. The intention for this session is to refresh your memory on topics discussed at the prior session and to delve a little deeper into other topics. Shawn's focus for this round of our series will be on establishing and protecting our life value for ourselves and our partner, while Anthony will focus on foundational legal protections, including asset transfer strategies between unmarried partners. There will be ample time for questions and answers and drinks following the presentations.

Bio for Anthony M. Brown
Anthony M. Brown, Esq. - Anthony is the Executive Director of The Wedding Party, a non-profit educational organization that educates the public about marriage and its importance to all citizens through outreach programs and strategic media placement. Anthony has worked as a law guardian at The Childrens Law Center, representing the legal needs of children in Brooklyn Family Court. Anthony also worked as a legal intern for Lambda Legal in the summer of 2002. While there he helped to prepare briefing for the landmark case of Lawrence v. Texas and his research was quoted specifically in Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's concurring opinion. Anthony graduated from Brooklyn Law School, where he served as research assistant to Nan Hunter, the founder of The Gay and Lesbian Project at the ACLU. Anthony currently works for the law firm of McKenna, Siracusano and Chianese heading their Nontraditional Family and Estates Law Division.

Bio for Shawn Cowls
In addition to his many years heading FFR/Princeton BTGALA, Shawn Cowls has spent the past 18 years in the insurance and financial services industry. He has worked for a number of insurance companies as an actuary and a consultant and currently is in his own practice helping individuals and small business implement financial solutions to their insurance and investing needs. He is a member of the Planning Center for Professionals, and is a registered representative of the brokerage firm Hornor, Townsend, and Kent (Member NASD/SIPC).

Directions
It's easy to get to People! It's just a block and a half below the intersection of First Avenue and Houston.
Subway From uptown or midtown, take the F or V train to the 2nd Avenue stop. Exit out the right hand stairs on the First Avenue end of the station. South of Houston, First Avenue becomes Allen Street. People is just a short block and a half south of Houston on the west side of Allen, between Stanton and Rivington.
From down town, take the J/M/Z up town. Get off at Essex. Walk west three short blocks to Allen, then north a block and a half.
Bus From uptown or midtown, take the M15 bus south on 2nd Avenue. The bus will turn on Houston and continue south on Allen Street. Get off at Houston and Allen and walk south a short block and a half. From subway stations on the west side, take the M21 bus east on Houston. Get off at 1st Avenue/Allen Street and walk south a short block and a half.
