The Princeton Club of Southern Arizona October, 2000Greetings Fellow Tigers! Our club has a new name, two new officers, a new post office box, new dues structure, and we are now on ONLINE. We have a survey coming out soon, and our first event of the year is coming up very quickly on October 26. Details are immediately below. The event will be free to members. Mark you calendars! MEET PRINCETON
PROFESSOR OF APPLIED
Wine and Cheese Reception Thursday, October 26, 2000, 6:00-8:00pm
Sheraton Tucson Hotel & Suites – Presidential Suite Please join us in welcoming Dr. Ingrid Daubechies to Tucson. Dr. Daubechies will present us with an informal talk about her work in wavelets which she has pioneered. Considered to be one of the most exciting developments in engineering this past decade, wavelets are being applied to everything from medical imaging to the search for oil reserves. Next year, thanks in large measure to Professor Daubechies, wavelets will become the new Internet standard (JPEG2000) for compressing images - the vacation pictures you e-mail your loved ones will probably be packaged and sent as wavelets. Very important - please RSVP now to byronmattingly87@yahoo.com or call the event sponsor Announcing our new Website The Princeton Club of Southern Arizona is online! Club information, past newsletters, activities, and special events will be published there on an on-going basis and accessible to anyone with a browser and an Internet connection. The site, currently under construction, will eventually include a social exchange and has links to TigerNet and Princeton University websites.
