The Princeton Club of Southern Arizona October, 2002 Greetings Fellow Tigers! We are looking forward to a great new 2002-2003 year. This fall, award winning garden designer Jeffrey Trent will once again be taking us on a tour through the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, J. T. MILLER 70 will entertain us with his roadshow An Illustrated History of the Alumni Association of Nassau Hall, it will (might?) be Princeton vs. Penn for the football game, and Hugh '79 and Naomi '81 Miller will host our annual holiday party. Club information, past newsletters, activities, and special events are published online and are accessible to anyone with a browser and an Internet connection. The site, includes an alumni exchange and has links to TigerNet and other Princeton University websites. Dues Your dues support newsletter mailings announcing our Club events. This includes our website registration ($200) and post office box ($24). Our treasury began the year with about $500. We need your support in order to keep having our events. Dues are:Classes of 1998 and later Free! Classes of 1997 and earlier (per household) $35 Dues are now payable for 2002-2003. Please participate by clicking the "membership" heading in our website, completing the form, and mailing your check payable to PCOSA to our post office box above (those without website access, simply mail your check). We sincerely thank you for your support! Fall 2002 Club Events Saturday, October 12, 2002 9:30-11:30am: A wonderful repeat opportunity! Sunset Magazine’s Western Garden Design Competition Multiple Award-Winner JEFFREY TRENT at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, 2021 North Kinney Road. If you missed this last year, you won’t want to miss out this year! Mr. Trent will lead us on another walking tour and share more of his extensive knowledge of plant adaptation to drought and garden design unique to our Sonoran Desert region. His work has been recognized both locally and nationally. His firm, Natural Order, Inc. specializes in residential garden design. Admission to the Desert Museum is $8.95 per person and free for members of the Museum. Meet us just inside the ticket gates where our tour will begin at 9:30am. Lunch afterwards at the Desert Museum’s self-service grill, The Ironwood Terraces, is optional. Monday, October 28, 2002 6:00-8:00pm: J. T. MILLER ’70 brings his highly entertaining roadshow “An Illustrated History of the Alumni Association of Nassau Hall” to The Westin La Paloma, Cottonwood Room (Mezzanine Level), 3800 East Sunrise Drive. JT’s presentation has been described as “informative and entertaining, irreverent and affectionate, scholarly, whimsical, and even reasonably accurate.” JT, a walking archive of Princetoniana, was recently appointed the University’s Director of Special Projects and Princetoniana. Cheese and crackers, fresh sliced fruit and fruit punch will be served; a cash bar will be available. The cost for this event is $12, payable in advance by check (made out to PCOSA) and mailed to our P.O Box to be received no later than Thursday, October 24. A POSSIBLE FOOTBALL PARTY…we are hoping to have a “Football Watch Party” on Saturday November 9, 11am-2pm, for the Penn-Princeton game. However, Princeton’s Athletic Department is as yet unable to confirm satellite broadcasting. If you would be interested in attending such an event, please email Susan at susanjayroe74@yahoo.com or leave her a message 400-2675, giving your phone number, and she will contact you individually with details if it materializes! Saturday, December 7, 2002 3:30-5:30pm: OUR ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY at Hugh ’79 and Naomi ’81 Miller’s beautiful home. Chamber music by the Tigress Trio: Naomi '81, Lindi ’76, and Susan ’74.
