TOPIC: “What you should know when serving on a board ”

Have you thought of serving on a board or been asked to serve on a board, but don’t know what is required?  The experience needed, the time commitment, the depth of knowledge—in other words, what it takes to be a successful board member.  

Our speaker will be Denis Boyle.  Denis worked as a senior executive for ARCO Chemical Company for 31 years in a variety of positions including VP of the Styrenics Business, director of Environmental Health and Safety, VP of Purchasing and Styrenics Business Manager.  In these positions, he worked closely with the ARCO Chemical board.  

He is also a 15 year veteran of the Harcum College board (www.harcum.edu).  During the last 3 years, he served as Board Chairman.  He has recently rotated out of the Chairman position.  He also worked on the boards of Keep America Beautiful and the Please Touch Museum.

Come join us for this event to meet fellow Philadelphia-area Princetonians and build or expand your personal network for anything from job referrals to business referrals to finding a baby sitter. This event is open to all, whether you're happily employed or not. It's never too soon to start building or expanding your network.

·         Presentation (6:30 p.m.)

·         Q&A (7:15 p.m.)

·         Informal networking (7:30 p.m.)

WHAT TO BRING: 

·         A supply of business/name cards 

·         A rehearsed 60-second elevator speech to tell us who you are, what you do, where you are going, what you would like from the group and what you might offer the group.
